tgyWhat I’m about to tell you is top secret, a conspiracy bigger than all of us. There’s a powerful group of people out there that are secretly running the world. I’m talking about the guys no one knows about, the guys that are invisible. The top 1% of the top 1%, the guys that play God without permission. And now I think they’re following me.
So I want to tell you how to become top of the top, best of the best, quicker than quick… I know how to do it! Because I have done it more than once already. But first, let’s think a little bit.
Have you ever tried anything competitive? If no, maybe somebody else you know or you have seen did it? Then you surely observed this effect: it is really simple to get to the leaderboard. This is very clear in online games. Within one month you can become elite. So counterintuitively, it is easy to achieve small goal of being within top 1%.
If you think about it: why is it so easy to win? You will understand what you need to do to accelerate progression. To better grasp my idea look at bottom 99%, not top 1%. Those people compete just to compete, they don’t study rules of the game, they don’t make time for their own success, they don’t even care about competition, because they don’t love what they are doing. To overcome bottom 99% you just have to:
- learn rules: most of the time, there are clear lines, which increase your efficiency manifold by sticking to them.
- show up. Learning is nothing without applying what you learned. Make sure to squeeze every positive effect out of knowledge you acquired in step 1
- compete. What is different about competition, is that everyone around you knows you are in.
But, most importantly, love your competition. Love your opponents. Love everyone putting sticks into your wheels. Love your failures and love your success.
What timeline are we talking here? Top 1% is achievable within 1 month. Top 1% of top 1% is achievable within 1 year. This is not some bullshit number. I have observed that pattern in real life. In my and my friends.
And here comes final and most important part. Pick your battles. You will work for a year, while everyone (and I mean everyone, even your family) laughs about you. People who win every time just pick right battles every time. And here comes your love. Love what you do, believe that it is important, convey this message to others whenever you can and don’t expect anything in return.
